Where do I even start to explain my love for both Neal and Swanfire? I've been so conflicted between Swanfire and Captain Swan for ages, loving both ships. Even though I always preferred Swanfire, I still couldn't say which ship I wanted to be endgame. But I know now. And just when I realised, that ship could never be endgame. Let me explain you something about Swanfire. I believe that not only are they true love, which was confirmed by Belle, but they are also the loves of each other's life. They were so perfect for each other and loved each other unconditionally. Their love is so pure, so selfless. All Neal ever wanted was for Emma (and Henry) to be happy. Not just happy with him, but happy, no matter who she ended up with or where she was. When he heard about Walsh and the proposal, he was truly sorry it didn't work out. And he didn't make fun of her when she told him Walsh turned out to be a flying monkey, like a certain captain has, twice. Instead he made her laugh, made her feel comfortable and not guilty about loving someone else. He made Emma smile like she hasn't done in months. Have you ever seen her like that with any other guy? Neal always made sure she felt comfortable, loved, happy. And that was all she needed. Even in the end her needs came before his, because she and Henry needed to be safe. And to be safe they needed Rumple, not Neal. He sacrificed himself for Emma's happiness. That is true love. I can't even begin to explain how much I love Neal. I always knew he was my favorite OUAT character, but never did I realise how much I actually loved him. He's one of my all time favorite characters. And the one character I never wanted to lose in this show. He was brave, loving and selfless. All he ever wanted was a family, a real and happy family. After everything, all the hurt he went through with his mother and Rumple, he sacrificed himself over and over. First he went with Peter's shadow to save Wendy and her brothers. Then, when he finally found his family in his true love Emma, he let her go so she could find out who she really was and reunite with her family. Because he knew how important family is. And later when he got shot, he let go of Emma to make sure Henry didn't lose both of his parents. He fell through the portal alone, without knowing if he would survive. He found out Emma was in Neverland and came back to the place he so badly wanted to leave years and years ago, just to make sure she and Henry were safe. He risked everything to safe Henry. And after his father died, he risked everything to bring him back. Even after everything Rumple had done to him. Because that is how much family means to him. And now he made his final sacrifice. He was the most selfless character I have ever known. Everything he did was to protect others, most of all his family. He deserved his happy ending more than any other character on the show. And he is the one character that'll never get it. And that hurts. So much. I still wish this wasn't the end. I still keep hoping that he will come back.
